April Cross, a broke travel magazine researcher recently laid off, finds herself stuck in an airport where she meets a charming stranger who reveals that he’s inherited his father’s estate, but it comes surrounded by danger. He spills enough tea to pique her interest, firing up her fact-digging skills. Although April never gets his name, she is determined to find his story. When she arrives at her destination, Kilkirk, a 548-year-old Irish estate, she learns that the stranger, Colin Sloan, is her host, and her free stay comes with a condition: help solve a murder and find out who wants him dead.
